First trailer for upcoming Jason Statham‘s action movie Blitz has been released, the film is directed by Elliott Lester and comes to theaters August 23rd, 2011. The film also stars David Morrissey, Luke Evans, Paddy Considine, Aidan Gillen, Chris Wilson and Nicky Henson.

Blitz is based on the hard-boiled novel by Ken Bruen, the script is by Moon’s Nathan Parker and the film, which is the first to be produced (rather than just distributed) by Lionsgate UK, is directed by Elliott Lester (Love is the Drug). In book-form, it’s actually the third in a series.

Although an early promo reel has been floating around online since last year, we hadn’t seen an official trailer for Sylvester Stallone’s, written and directed, The Expendables until today. Lionsgate has finally debuted the official trailer, showing exactly what The Expendables has promised: a bunch of action stars doing what they do best. There’s even a very special scene featuring Sly, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, three of the genre’s greatest together onscreen for the very first time.

The Expendables is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator.

The Expendables Movie Trailer

To Entertainment Weekly, the director/writer/star of the actioner provided further info about the characters Willis and Schwarzenegger take on among others. Confirming that the scene takes place in a church, Sly revealed that Willis portrays the one who hires his mercenary group for the death-defying mission, while Schwarzenegger stars as his character’s old rival.

Describing the scene in more detail, Sly gushed, “Bruce says: Well, there’s one other person I want to talk to before I hire you. And then Arnold, who plays my old rival, walks in.”

The Expendables centers on a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Steve Austin, Dolph Lundgren, Brittany Murphy, Charisma Carpenter and Randy Couture are among the star-studded cast ensemble. This three minute promo for The Expendables, Sylvester Stallone’s latest project as writer,director and star, has pretty much everything you’d want from a cheesy as all hell ’80s action flick. It also stars Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Eric Roberts, Dolph Lundgren, Charisma Carpenter, Giselle Itie, Brittany Murphy, David Zayas and Amin Joseph.

The film centers on a group of mercenaries sent to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator to liberate the population. Their team is “expendable,” hired to do jobs that no one else can or will.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis also take a part in this actioner which targets an August 20, 2010 U.S. release.

Originally planned to blast into the cinemas on April 23, 2010, the Sylvester Stallone-directed actioner has been pushed back into a summer slate and now eying an August 20, 2010 release.  The news of the release date shift has come from Lionsgate twitter page.

Beside announcing “Expendables” new release date, Lionsgate also unraveled when “Kick-Ass” will be made available on big screens. Through the same Twitter post, the studio revealed that April 16, 2010 will be the date the live-action adaptation of John Romita Jr. and Mark Millar’s comic book series to open wide in the States.
