Although an early promo reel has been floating around online since last year, we hadn’t seen an official trailer for Sylvester Stallone’s, written and directed, The Expendables until today. Lionsgate has finally debuted the official trailer, showing exactly what The Expendables has promised: a bunch of action stars doing what they do best. There’s even a very special scene featuring Sly, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, three of the genre’s greatest together onscreen for the very first time.

The Expendables is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator.

The Expendables stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, David Zayas, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke and will hit theaters everywhere on August 13.

There are rumors about the main role but no one confirmed who will inherit Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The news was first broken by Deadline Hollywood. According to them, there are three finalists:

Kellan Lutz

Kellan Lutz ( Twilight), Jason Momoa ( Stargate Atlantis ) and ” unnamed third established actor“.

Muscles are the main requirement and both Lutz and Momoa seem to have those in spades. No one of them is a major well known actor in the movie world but the budget will be much bigger than the original B – movie Conan.

Remake of Conan the Barberian by Marcus Nispel is scheduled to get started on 15 th March 2011.

Stallone explain Schwarzenegger and Willis’ “Expendables” Scene

Last Saturday, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis shot a church scene for Stallone’s “The Expendables” action ensemble pic, marking the first time that the three ’80s action stars have appeared together on the silver screen.

To Entertainment Weekly, the director/writer/star of the actioner provided further info about the characters Willis and Schwarzenegger take on among others. Confirming that the scene takes place in a church, Sly revealed that Willis portrays the one who hires his mercenary group for the death-defying mission, while Schwarzenegger stars as his character’s old rival.

Describing the scene in more detail, Sly gushed, “Bruce says: Well, there’s one other person I want to talk to before I hire you. And then Arnold, who plays my old rival, walks in.”

The Expendables centers on a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Steve Austin, Dolph Lundgren, Brittany Murphy, Charisma Carpenter and Randy Couture are among the star-studded cast ensemble. This three minute promo for The Expendables, Sylvester Stallone’s latest project as writer,director and star, has pretty much everything you’d want from a cheesy as all hell ’80s action flick. It also stars Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Eric Roberts, Dolph Lundgren, Charisma Carpenter, Giselle Itie, Brittany Murphy, David Zayas and Amin Joseph.

The film centers on a group of mercenaries sent to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator to liberate the population. Their team is “expendable,” hired to do jobs that no one else can or will.

“The Expendables” will arrive in theaters across the United States four months later than what has been scheduled earlier.

Originally planned to blast into the cinemas on April 23, 2010, the Sylvester Stallone-directed actioner has been pushed back into a summer slate and now eying an August 20, 2010 release. The news of the release date shift has come from Lionsgate twitter page.

Beside announcing “Expendables” new release date, Lionsgate also unraveled when “Kick-Ass” will be made available on big screens. Through the same Twitter post, the studio revealed that April 16, 2010 will be the date the live-action adaptation of John Romita Jr. and Mark Millar’s comic book series to open wide in the States.

An unholy action trio is assembling on the set of The Expendables. Sylvester Stallone, who wrote and directed the film, will soon be joined by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis for “a very special scene”.

The Expendables already has more than its fair share of action stars, with the likes of Jet Li, Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham playing a group of mercenaries that Stallone leads to overthrow a dictator and his army. But the inclusion of cameos by Schwarzenegger and Willis is a moment that 80s action fans have been secretly dreaming of for years.

According to Willis, the scene will feature all three of them together, but no other details were available. “I don’t know anything about [my character] yet, haven’t seen any pages yet,” explained Willis.

The Expendables is expected out in theaters in April 2010

Randy Couture and Antonio Nogueira will appear in the upcoming Sylvester Stallone-directed “The Expendables” and will battle it out during the August 29th UFC event. To promote the fight, Stallone put together a video in which he interviews the two men and shows some of the first footage from the movie.

The new movie is about a group of mercenaries attempting to overthrow a South American dictator. In addition to the actors named above, “The Expendables” also stars Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“The Expendables” is scheduled to hit theaters on April 23rd, 2010.
