It may be viewed as a gamble but just as every little girl’s dream is to be Cinderella, or a princess, so it’s every little boy’s dream to be like Superman, or Superman himself. Well such a dream may have come true for Henry Cavill who will be taking on the much coveted role of Superman ‘The Man of Steel.’ Should all go as planned the ‘Man of Steel’ production by Zack Snyder may take the young Cavill to the road of super stardom.
Not that there has been any pressure put on Cavill but should his performance as Superman leave anything to be desired it may spell disappointment for many important people in the movie business who have placed their faith in him, not to mention their time and money. Cavill has also placed a tremendous amount of pressure on himself to execute the classic role to the very best of his abilities and that’s plenty for anyone to have one his or her plate.
If you’re a fan of the caped crusader you are probably familiar with the ‘Superman Curse’ that didn’t bypass either Christopher Reeve nor George Reeves shortly after their Superman performances. As far as Cavill’s preparedness to take on the monumental part, he claims that his work in the Immortals has prepped him to cope with the physical demands of the ‘Man of Steel’ production. Good thing the young Cavill is buff and physically fit.
Cavill granted an interview with Cineplex and shared that he’s aware of how many folks are counting on him to fill Superman’s shoes and spandex suit. For more about our hero, read below.
“…It’s important to do the role justice. There are a lot of people relying on me to do this well. I gladly accept that responsibility, and it’s a great one to have because it’s a wonderful opportunity. I don’t let the pressures get to me because that’s going to hinder my performance and, therefore, let people down. So I choose to ignore the pressure side of it and focus on doing justice to Superman.”
Expect to see ‘Man of Steel in theaters June, 2013.
