Chris Hemsworth – THOR.

Marvel has released 2 new movie posters for the Kenneth Branagh directed film Thor.

Thor stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Rene Russo, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Clark Gregg, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Joshua Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, and Anthony Hopkins and opens in 3D on May 6th 2011.

THOR is directed by Kenneth Branagh (4 times Academy Award-nominated), stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo, Ray Stevenson, Josh Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, Clark Gregg and Colm Feore.

Thor is a fictional superhero who appears in publications published by Marvel Comics. The character first appears in Journey into Mystery #83 (Aug. 1962) and was created by editor-plotter Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, and penciller Jack Kirby. Debuting in the Silver Age of Comic Books, the character is based on the Thor of Norse mythology. He has starred in several ongoing series and limited series, and has been a perennial member of the superhero team the Avengers, appearing in each of the four volumes. The character has also appeared in associated Marvel merchandise including animated television series; clothing; toys; trading cards and video games.

What do you guys think? While I never followed Thor that much in comic books (only in crossover issues), this poster makes me want to see the movie.

The veteran Anthony Hopkins has joined the cast of Marvel’s “Thor”, which will interpret the Norse god Odin.

Odin is the father of Thor and Loki, who in the Marvel movie will be played by Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, while the beautiful Natalie Portman will play Jane Foster, the woman loved by Thor.
