1. Snatch – (2000) – In Guy Richie’s most definitive film (a men’s holy grail), Snatch, Jason Statham is Turkish – a boxing promoter surrounded by turmoil, an affable and grounding element in a caper that goes wildly off the rails. A bare knuckle boxing match; an Irish “pikey” Gypsy (played brilliantly by Brad Pitt) and his dag’s (dogs); a criminal overlord Brick Top (Alan Ford); a thief Franky Four Fingers (Benicio Del Toro) – these are just a few slices of a story that loves a 84 karat diamond.
2. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels – Bacon (Jason Statham), Soap, Tom and Eddy front £100,000 for a 3 card brag game. When Eddy loses it to Hatchet Harry Lonsdale, a notorious porn kingpin, he and his friends honour the debt with a creative state of affairs that encompasses a pair of antique shotguns. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is a hilarious heist of errors.
3. The Italian Job – An elite team of expert thieves pull off a daring heist of 35 million dollars in gold bars. Yet, the betrayal by one of these thieves is the revenge story at the heart of The Italian Job; a remake of the 1969 original.
4. The Transporter – In The Transporter, Jason Statham is Frank Martin, an ex-Special forces turned mercenary “transporter” for hire, who conducts his business with the bliss of ignorance. With his latest job for an American known as “Wall Street,” he makes a delivery: a package that he notices is moving. Inside is a beautiful woman wearing a gag. Breaking his code of conduct, he discovers the secrets of his new companion, Lai (Qi Shu), all whilst being chased by mercenaries.
5. The Bank Job – Martine Love (Saffron Burrows) seduces Terry Leather (Jason Statham), an out of luck car dealer married with children, into a bank robbery scheme. With the bank’s alarm temporarily shut off, the couple assemble a team to tunnel into the vault. Based on the true story of the 1971 Baker Street bank robbery.
6. Crank – Jason Statham’s role in Crank is likely his most iconic. Simply, it’s the insanity of the plot: he’s an assassin that on the eve of quitting a crime syndicate to devote himself to his girlfriend (Amy Smart), is injected by his rival with a ‘Beijing Cocktail’ and must stay alive by never letting his heart rate drop. It’s a performance piece of action proportions.
7. The Expendables – The Expendables, an excuse for assembling a gaggle of action stars, has Jason Statham alongside Stallone, Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren, as a group of elite mercenaries sent to the Gulf of Aden to halt the execution of hostages.
8. Revolver – As Jake Green, Jason Statham excels in Revolver (considered a lesser Guy Richie film?), as a gambler who leaves prison with the formula for the ultimate con to seek revenge on Dorothy Macha (Ray Liotta), the man who put him in jail.
9. London – The story of London’s (Jessica Biel) going away party: her boyfriend Syd (Chris Evans), who she broke up with six months earlier, is an addict with an affection for cocaine. Jason Statham reveals unusual versatility as Bateman, a banker and drug-dealer; he’s an acquaintance that Syd brings to London’s party uninvited and a key ingredient to revealing their past together.
10. War – War showcases the mix of Jet Li and Jason Statham (their second film together after The One (2001)). Statham is Jack Crawford, an FBI agent out for revenge against Rogue (Li), a known hit man who murdered his partner.
