Mark Strong as Sinestro in “Green Lantern” Movie

There were rumors that the role of Sinestro will play Jackie Earle Haley (Watchman , but Martin Campbell (Casino Royal, Edge of Darkness) has explained that Mark Strong (Stardust, Body of Lies, Rocknroll) is much better choice for this villain character in Green Lantern. He also said: “He’s not only a wonderful actor, but he looks like Sinestro. If you look up old pictures of Sinestro, he’s very like him.”

Sinestro is an intellectual first and formost and his corruption comes about because he is so determined to protect his own people. He becomes obsessed with power, control and punishment. In other words, he is the kind of villain Strong excels at playing, men whose brains equal or exceed their physical capabilities.

“Green Lantern” is currently scheduled for release on June 17, 2011.
