“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” to Get U.S. Release?

The film that will forever be billed as Heath Ledger’s last performance, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, has found U.S. distribution. Sony Picture Classics already picked up the Terry Gilliam film for a release in Brazil, but the pending deal could expand their rights to North America and will be hit theaters on Christmas Day.
Coming Soon also reports that the film will open in the UK on October 16, and will also screen at the Toronto Film Festival on September 18. In other Parnassus news, the film Canadian distributor, E1 Entertainment, has declared a review embargo until the film’s opening day, set for September 10th.
