“It’s Complicated” Trailer is not so complicated

Here’s a trailer for It’s Complicated, a love-triangle romantic comedy starring Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, from writer/director Nancy Meyers. Meyers previously brought us What Women Want and The Holiday, amongst others, so the form here is fairly clear.
Opening in theaters on Christmas Day, the film centers on Jane (Streep), who is the mother of three grown kids, and owns a thriving Santa Barbara bakery/restaurant and has-after a decade of divorce-an amicable relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake (Baldwin). But when Jane and Jake find themselves out of town for their son’s college graduation, things start to get complicated. An innocent meal together turns into the unimaginable-an affair. With Jake remarried to the much younger Agness (Lake Bell), Jane is now, of all things, the other woman.
Caught in the middle of their renewed romance is Adam (Martin), an architect hired to remodel Jane’s kitchen. Healing from a divorce of his own, Adam starts to fall for Jane, but soon realizes he’s become part of a love triangle.
There’s smart timing for releasing a new trailer, and then there’s just plain kismet. Universal’s decision to launch the trailer for the new Nancy Meyers comedy It’s Complicated comes on the eve of the release of Julia & Julia, a.k.a. America’s latest opportunity to fall in love with Meryl Streep.
It seems that this year Christmas day (decaembar 25), will be very complicated!
