Official “Machete” Cast Line-Up

A couple of weeks ago, there was a sonic boom of a casting rumor, that Robert De Niro would co-star in Machete alongside Danny Trejo as the title character. And now that rumor has been confirmed, and he’s not the only big name joining the cast.

The sad news is that Jonah Hill will not be taking on a role as we previously reported. Although, EW confirms that Lindsay Lohan, Steven Seagal, Jessica Alba, Don Johnson and Cheech Marin have al been locked into the film being helmed by Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis.

The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he’s about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he’s been set up. He barely survives the sniper’s bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren’t you!

“Machete” is reported to start production sometime this week and planned to be released in 2010.
