Nation’s Pride – Movie-within-a-movie in “Inglourious Basterds”
A new viral video has hit YouTube for Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. The video comes in the form of a movie trailer for the Nazi-made film “Nation’s Pride”, the film-within-the-film that features in the Basterd’s and is integral to the film’s plot.
Here is some context: In the film, the world premiere of Joseph Goebbels’ Nazi propaganda film Nation’s Pride is a setting for one of the key moments in the story. The film tells the story of German War Fredrick Zoller (Daniel Bruhl). Bits and pieces from the film appear during Basterds. I could explain more but it might ruin part of the film (if you’ve seen the trailer then you can likely connect some of the dots).
The faux trailer was actually directed by Eli Roth, who also stars in Tarantino’s film. Of course, the faux trailer is in English and unfortunately, it features lots of modern-day effects, losing its 1940′s feel.
“Inglourious Basterds”, both written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, will officially hit theaters worldwide on August 21st, 2009.
