Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 will be directed by Rob Marshall?
Nothing is official yet, but according to Variety, Rob Marshall (Chicago and Dreamgirls director) is close to signing on as the director for the fourth installments of Pirates Of The Caribbean 4, replacing Gore Verbinski, who has moved out in favour of Bioshock. Marshall is currently finishing work on his mega-musical Nine.
It is big business for Disney, as the “Pirates” trilogy grossed $2.6 billion worldwide and studio wants to finalize the production crew, before Johnny Deep begins his work on The Lone Ranger. Also rumors say that “Marshall’s involvement wasn’t immediately confirmed, but things look good enough that the studio has begun casting new characters that will appear in the movie.”
Well, you probably thinking. “He’s going to have Johnny Depp singing and dancing!”, but Marshall’s sense of staginess and visual play might work really well in the Pirates franchise, which is really nothing but an excuse to take outlandish characters and put them in crazy situations.
Plot Summary: Johnny Depp is returning as Captain Jack Sparrow in a untitled third sequel in the popular “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” teased audiences with Sparrow and Barbossa both in hot pursuit of the Fountain of Youth!
